Projects Cardiff

  • Name: James Bulwell – JPD Developments
  • Location: Cardiff Bay
  • Cost: £60,000
  • Project Details: We tendered for some of the stages of a new development project in Cardiff Bay with a mix of housing styles. Our remit was for the more traditionally styled properties, which were to be fitted with sash windows and have other period architectural features to lessen the uniformity and to create a classic look. This project really demonstrated how current a traditional sash window can be, particularly with all the thermal and draughtproofing advantages of modern materials and techniques.

  • Name: Sophie Lupton
  • Location: St Fagans
  • Cost: £6,500
  • Project Details: Sophie had bought an old, somewhat rundown guest house and wanted to convert it back to a home with the top floor as a self-contained apartment for holiday lets. Her key drivers were quality, authenticity and good thermal efficiency, so our sash windows really fitted the bill. They date the house back to its period origins but offer all the comfort and energy savings of triple glazing.

Happy Sash Window
Customers in Cardiff

Gwyn Barry

I have a traditional terraced house near the University which has been let for several years to undergraduates because I’ve been living and working abroad. The time came to reclaim my Welsh home; it would be fair to say it needed some work! New sash windows were a top priority, as what was there was beyond repair. They have transformed the house plus the noise reduction is hugely noticeable, especially as my road has become much busier in recent years.

Ellen Crook

As a manager in charge of a restoration and refurbishment project near the docks, my wish list was new, authentically period windows which were low maintenance and super thermally efficient. These quality sash windows were just the job, high value in terms of aesthetic design and appearance and super green when it came to managing heat loss and eliminating draughts.

Sash Windows
Cardiff FAQs

  • Why is your lead-in time for sash windows longer than other companies?

As the saying goes, all good things come to those who wait. Lead time is about 8-12 weeks, but this can vary depending on how many windows you want and whether there are any specific design features. We can discuss timescales with you when you order and give you an accurate estimate. One thing you can be sure of, we always deliver on time, so your windows will arrive when we say they will, something not always guaranteed by our competitors.

  • Do your sash windows comply with existing building regulations?

All the windows we produce comply with current building regulations. If your property is listed or you are in a conservation area, we will also adhere to those regulations. Our expert team is familiar with all the possible requirements and will organise certification where appropriate.

  • Aren’t timber sliding sash windows consistently high maintenance when caring for and preserving the wood?

There are new timber products on the market, like Accoya, which are harvested and treated in such a way as to offer the customer all the benefits of traditional wood but with a fraction of the maintenance required to keep it in tip-top condition. This is because the wood is more durable and resistant to weathering, plus, we use the latest preservatives and paints to keep your input to an absolute minimum.
